2026 Electric Vehicle Incentives in Quebec: Complete Guide (Roulez vert and PAVE)
Quebec and Canada as a whole offer financial incentive programs for the purchase of electric vehicles. Whether you are looking for an electric vehicle incentive in Quebec or assistance for installing a charging station, there are solutions to reduce your bill.
However, as standards vary and models differ, it can be difficult to find your way. Here is a guide to the financial aid available for individuals purchasing an electric vehicle. For commercial businesses, specific programs are also available, including "Écocamionnage" (Eco-trucking) for the purchase of larger trucks.
The Roulez vert 2026 Provincial Program: Rebates and Eligibility
Established in Quebec for several years, the Roulez vert program has evolved over time. For the year 2026, it offers financial assistance for the purchase or lease of a new or used electric vehicle, or a new plug-in hybrid. Note that criteria will change on January 1, 2027, and the amount of aid will decrease.
Incentive for a 100% Electric Vehicle (New and Used)
For a new 100% electric vehicle, the program provides financial assistance of $2,000. However, the vehicle must meet an important criterion: it must have a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of less than $65,000.
Note: Option packages offered by the manufacturer or the addition of certain elements, such as an extended battery (whether physical or software), are included in the price for eligibility. For example, if a vehicle has a sale price of $63,000 but the buyer adds a $5,000 option package, the price will be set at $68,000, making it ineligible for financial aid.
To benefit from the $2,000 provincial electric vehicle incentive, your vehicle must be registered before December 31, 2026.
For used vehicles, they must be part of the list of eligible electric vehicles and, most importantly, must never have received government financial assistance previously. If this condition is met, the used EV may then be eligible for $1,000.
Financial Assistance for Plug-in Hybrid Vehicles (PHEV)
For hybrid vehicles, they must be plug-in models, and the provincial program's financial aid varies based on battery power:
- A new vehicle with 15 kWh or more can receive $1,000.
- A new vehicle with 8 to less than 15 kWh sees its subsidy reduced to $500.
No used hybrid model can qualify for the Roulez vert 2026 program.
Rebates for Charging Stations
The Roulez vert provincial program in 2026 also includes a section providing $600 for the installation of a home charging station. The installation must be done by a certified electrician, and the vehicle identification number is required to obtain financial aid.
Federal PAVE Program: The New Federal Incentive in 2026
The federal financial aid program, called the Program for Affordable Electric Vehicles (PAVE), was relaunched in February 2026. It offers an electric vehicle subsidy of up to $5,000 for a new 100% electric vehicle, and $2,500 for a plug-in hybrid vehicle.
Note that for federal aid, other conditions apply. Only vehicles manufactured in Canada or in countries with which Canada has an existing or future free-trade agreement are eligible.
If a vehicle is manufactured in a country with a free-trade treaty with Canada, the total transaction price must not exceed $50,000. If the vehicle is manufactured in Canada, this ceiling does not apply. This amount excludes taxes but, like the provincial program, must include the cost of additional options.
Which Ford Vehicles Are Eligible for Electric Vehicle Incentives?
At Ford, the list of vehicles eligible for electric vehicle incentives is quite simple. It includes the Ford Escape Plug-in Hybrid, the Ford F-150 Lightning, and the Ford Mustang Mach-E. Only certain versions of the latter two models, depending on the sale price, have access to provincial financial aid:
- Ford F-150 Lightning: The Pro version of all model years allows for financial aid from the Roulez vert 2026 program.
- Mustang Mach-E: The Select, Premium, and GT Extended Range versions (eligible without any option groups or performance upgrades) are listed.
The federal program is more restrictive. Primarily, only 2024, 2025, and 2026 Ford Escape Plug-in Hybrids are eligible, while the 2026 Mustang Mach-E Select Standard Range (RWD and eAWD) qualifies for the federal electric vehicle incentive. Select Extended Range and Premium versions may also be eligible depending on manufacturer rebates. Keep an eye on promotions!
