Financial incentives for electric vehicles
To encourage the purchase and adoption of electric vehicles, the governments of Quebec and Canada have established financial incentive programs. These programs, which have been in place for several years, can provide thousands of dollars in rebates for the purchase or lease of an electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle and even offer financial support for the installation of home charging stations.
These various programs can be complex, and the rebate amount varies depending on the type of vehicle and the timing of the purchase. In fact, changes are coming to the Quebec program as of January 1, 2025. Here's a summary of the available incentives.
It can be difficult to navigate these programs as the eligibility criteria vary based on the vehicle's price, category (in the case of the federal incentive), and type. Used vehicles and leased vehicles can also qualify under certain conditions. Here's a summary of the financial incentive provisions.

Rebates for the purchase and installation of charging stations
The Roulez Vert program offers up to $600 in financial assistance for a home charging station if you own an electric vehicle. A financial assistance program is also available for the installation of charging stations in multi-unit buildings.
Over 32 municipalities in Quebec offer rebates for the purchase and installation of home charging stations. Most rebates cover 25% of the installation costs.
Some municipalities offer a fixed amount ranging from $100 to $500 for the purchase and installation of the charging station.
How to claim the financial incentive
We will submit the application for the Roulez Vert program and the federal iZEV program on your behalf. You can also submit the application to the Roulez Vert program yourself using the online service. You will need to have the purchase or lease agreement, the vehicle description, and the "Service Received" document from the SAAQ. You can also submit your application by mail.
The application for financial assistance for the charging station can also be submitted online. In addition to the purchase or lease agreements and SAAQ documents, you will need to have the details of the charging station itself and the supplier, and proof of installation by a qualified electrician if a new outlet needs to be installed. The charging station must be installed, and you must be in possession of your electric vehicle at the time of application.
